Van Wert Concert Band in concert Friday

VW Area Community Concert Band information

On Friday, August 26, the Van Wert Area Community Concert Band will present a concert in the band shell of Fountain Park in Van Wert. The program will begin at 7 p.m. and is free to the public.

Realizing that many spectators will be supporting their local high school football team, the band members felt this concert might provide an alternative for audience members that will not be traveling to the away games.

Music performed on the concert will include several classic marches, selections from hit movies to include Star Wars and Titanic, with percussionist Lindsey Newlove singing the title theme.

Also on the program will be Janet and Chip Steffy singing two animated and energetic vocal duets. The program will conclude with several spirited Ohio State University pep songs. Band members have been encouraged by the warm reception local audiences have afforded the local volunteer band and they are look forward to a good attendance at this final summer concert, said director Richard Sherrick.

A food stand sponsored by the band, which will serve a variety of sandwiches, desserts and drinks, will be available starting at 5:30 p.m.

The band features members from Van Wert, Elida, Lima, Delphos, Convoy, Payne, Chattanooga, Middle Point, Decatur and Rockford for this special concert.
