Cougar golfers win Deerfield tri-match
Van Wert independent sports
MERCER — Freshman Brandon Hernandez fired a team-low, even-par 36 for Van Wert to help push the Cougs over the top against Parkway and Coldwater at Deerfield.

Team score for Van Wert was a season low 157 as the Cougars had good balance throughout their entire line-up. Parkway’s Jordan Bollenbacher (overall medalist) and teammate Brandon Schatzer fired a 35 and 37, respectively, to give the visiting teams all they wanted at the front end of the match.
With the win, Van Wert moves to 3-0 overall (1-0 in the Western Buckeye League) and will compete Thursday against Kenton in the season’s first home match at Willow Bend Country Club, starting at 4:30 p.m.
