Helen E. Mongold
Helen E. Mongold, 86, of Van Wert, died at 5:35 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at Van Wert Manor.
She was born March 23, 1925, in Paulding County, the daughter of the late Edgar and Ruth May (Mohr) Girod. On July 5, 1946, she married Charles Kenneth Mongold, who preceded her in death on August 9, 2008.
Survivors include six children, Marie (Calvin) Runyon and Roger (Deb) Mongold, both of Van Wert, Howard (Donna) Mongold of Greensboro, N.C., Ed (Bobbie) Mongold of Washington Court House, Paul (Cheryl) Mongold of Plymouth, and Carl (Jodi) Mongold of Auburn, Ind.; two brothers, David C. (Ruth) Girod of Van Wert and Donald Girod of Jonesboro, Ga.; two sisters, Virginia Baker and Wileta (Fred) Collins, both of Van Wert; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Two children, Charles Kenneth Mongold Jr. and Ruth Ella O’Neal; and two brothers, Wayne Girod and Lloyd “Doc” Girod, also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 27, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Mark Fuerstenau officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in rural Van Wert County.
Calling hours are from 2-6 p.m. Friday, August 26, and from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials: Middle Point United Methodist Church or a charity of donor’s choice.
