Esther Viola Caryer

Esther Viola Caryer, 85, formerly of Wren, passed away at 8:05 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2011, at Vancrest Health Care Center of Convoy.

She was born February 26, 1926, in Paulding County, the daughter of the late George A. and Nora (Little) Burris. On December 1, 1945, she married Leo T. Caryer Jr., who preceded her in death on June 21, 2005.

Survivors include three daughters, Marilyn Neate of Convoy, Marcelene (Richard) Price of Ohio City and Peggy (Danny) Miller of Mount Vernon, Ky.; three grandsons, Matthew Swygart and David Schaadt, both of Rockford, and Christopher (Angie) Swygart of North Vernon, Ind.; one granddaughter, Macayla Miller of Mount Vernon, Ky.; eight great-grandchildren, Brett Swygart, Sydney Swygart, Mollie Swygart, Samantha Swygart, Mason Swygart, Sarah Schaadt, Johnaton Schaadt, and Cecilia Schaadt.

Also surviving are three sisters, Marge Powless, Irene Manley and Nancy Yenser, and two brothers, Calvin Burris and Ray Burris.

Three sisters, Gladys Clark, Irene Manley, Nancy Yenser, and a brother, Calvin Burris, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 3, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Carol Tumbleson of Countryside Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
