Cougar golfers down Elida in WBL match

The Cougar golf team moved to 4-0 in the Western Buckeye League and 6-0 overall Thursday, defeating WBL foe Elida 155-173.

Van Wert’s No. 1 golfer, Jacob Brake, and No. 2 Tyler Turnwald combined for 9-hole scores at one over par and beat their Bulldog competitors by 14 strokes.
Playing behind them was Matt Cucciarre and Brandon Hernandez, who got down early in the match, but, to their credit, righted the ship and halved the match.
Playing the fifth and sixth positions for Van Wert were Vince Moreland and Adam Jurczyk, whoran away from their Elida opponents by 25 strokes.
With the loss, Elida moves to 1-3 in the WBL and 1-4 overall.
The Cougar junior varsity team was bested by Elida, 199-206, with Justin Price medaling with a 43. Cougars return to action next Tuesday and Thursday with home matches against Bath and Ottawa-Glandorf.
