Lancer runners do well at Spencerville
SPENCERVILLE — The Lincolnview Lancer cross country teams competed at the Spencerville Invitational on Saturday.
The boys’ team ran their best race of the season and placed third in the field of 20 schools. Leading the Lancers was Bayley Tow, who placed 15th overall. He was followed closely by teammates Jeff Jacomet (24th), Ben Bilimek (27th), Brandon Jacomet (35th), and Doug Hicks (43rd).
“The boys really responded today,” Coach Matt Langdon said. “We were focused all week on where we wanted to place as a team and our positioning in the race.
“It was obvious watching the race that they were focused,” Coach Langdon added. “We are starting to come around as a team, and Saturday was a big step in the right direction.”
The girls team placed 11th and was paced by senior Kerri Grothaus, who placed 26th overall. She was followed by Sabrina Barnhart, Haley McAbee, Taylor Miller, and Madelyn Jones.
“The girls have yet to race at full strength,” Coach Langdon noted. “The pieces are all there, we just need them to come together on the same day.”
The Lancers next meet will be Tuesday against Elida and Kenton at Elida.
