Cougar golfers down WBL foe Celina

The Van Wert varsity golf team, led by co-medalists Vince Moreland and Jacob Brake, ran its record to 6-1 in the Western Buckeye League by downing Celina (4-3) at Willow Bend Country Club Tuesday afternoon. The final score was 162-178 and was a make-up from last Thursday’s rainout.

Beside a pair of 39s shot by the co-medalists, Matt Cucciarre fired a 41, Tyler Turnwald had a 43, and Adam Jurczyk and Brandon Hernandez had a 44 and 46, respectively.

The Cougars continue a busy golf week with another home WBL match Thursday, as well as the Jordan Moeller Invitational Saturday at Mercer County Elks Golf Course.
