VWMS runners do well at C’view meet
CONVOY — The Van Wert Middle School boys were victorious at the Crestview Cross Country Invitational last evening. The final results had Van Wert and county rival Lincolnview tied for the first place spot, but the tie-breaking sixth man ultimately determined the Cougars were the victors.
Cade Fleming and Dylan Lautzenheiser led the charge for the Van Wert squad. They earned third and fourth place honors, respectively. Sam Easley, 14th, Nathan Murphy, 19th, and Cade Chiles, 21st, rounded out the scorers. Also running for the Cougars were Nick Etter, Jared Shaffer, Ryan Keber, Nick White, Tyler Nygren, Braden VanCleave, Ben Scheidt, Nick Gutierrez, Bailey Neuenschwander, Andrew Perry, Carter Eikenbary, Nick Motycka, and Jacob Covey.
Although the Van Wert ladies had several positive performances on the evening, they did not fair as well in the team standings; they finished fourth overall.
The Lady Cougars were paced by Megan Barnhart. She finished in eleventh place. Not too far behind was LeAndryce Miller, 13th, Natalie Reithman 14th, and Ashlynn Friesner 16th. Anna Henkaline rounded out the top five with a 25th place finish. Other Cougar runners included: Larissa Laudick, Morgan Bracken, Aimee Nicolai, Shianne Baldwin, Caylee Boroff, Maggie Cripe, Olivia Profit, Karli Thatcher, and Tori Smith.
