Cougar golfers strong at weekend invite
Submitted content
Van Wert golf traveled to Mercer County Elks with their top five golfers Saturday to compete in The Jordan Moeller Invitational with fourteen other team. This tournament now in it’s third year honors a former Marion Local golfer who loved golf and was employed part-time at the Elks. Jordan tragically lost his life at age 19 in a car accident. The Cougars almost repeated as champions finishing 2nd overall being edged out by traditional small school power Minster. Tyler Turnwald was on the all tournament team finishing with a 79 which was just two strokes off the overall winner Will Paulus of St. Marys. Coach Jeff Hood responded: “It was good to see Tyler play well, he was one bad hole away from repeating as individual champion, the guys overall realize they could have been champs with a pretty average score, but it was good to get a good 18 hole round in before league on Thursday.” The Cougars return to action at home vs. OG on Monday at Willow Bend CC.
