Cougars-Panthers volleyball

The Van Wert Cougars were back in action Saturday at the Cougar’s den taking on the Paulding Panthers. The day started with the Freshmen match going to the Panthers in 3 games 25-19, 22-25 and 21-25. The Cougars JV team came out strong and took the Panthers in 2 games 25-12 and 25-16. Leading the JV in kills was Riley Jones with 5 and Saige Royer with 3. Leading server was Sydney Dull going 17/18 with 4 aces.

The varsity Cougars came out and put forth a good effort but just couldn’t stop the big middles for Paulding. They lost the first game 19-25. The second game was back and forth with Paulding making some big plays and then Van Wert fighting back to take the lead but falling short with the final score 21-25 going to the Panthers. Van Wert did not give up and fought back to win the third game 25-22. The fourth game seemed to be going Van Wert’s way but after a couple of momentum changes they lost the fourth game 24-26. The Cougars are now 4-4 on the season.

Cougars are back in action Tuesday night at home when the take on Defiance in their third WBL match.
