August Muni Court report released

There were a total of 444 cases for the month of August 2011. 326 Traffic cases, 62 criminal cases; and 56 civil cases. The Court performed 2 weddings.

Disbursements include $1,370.00 to the Legal Aid, $2,653.42 to Victims of Crime and $752.00 to Computerization. During the month a total of $9,804.03 was collected in back fines; for a total of $117,030.57 year to date.

Monies collected for judgment creditors by garnishment for the month totaled $24,892.86.The nature of the offense and the arresting authority are factors which affect the distribution of the fines.

The charging authorities were: Traffic cases: Driving under the influence (11); State patrol 8; SDPD 1; and SVW 2. General Traffic (315) OSP 215; Van Wert Police 74; Sheriff 22; Delphos 1 and Village 3.

Criminal charges (62): City Police 38; Ohio State Patrol 4; Sheriff 16; Delphos 3; and Village 1.

Judge Jill Leatherman in cooperation with the Court’s new probation officer Zach Miller have instituted some new procedures and reporting information. The following information has been submitted to the Judge from the probation department for the month of August.

Fines and costs in the amount of $55,538.96 were distributed to government agencies by the Municipal Court as follows: $19,659.66 to the State of Ohio; $26,839.97 to the City of Van Wert; $8,684.78 to the County of Van Wert; $307.55 to Van Wert Sheriff’s Dept.; $31.00 to Crime Stoppers; $5.00 to the City of Delphos; and $11.00 to Allen Co Sheriff’s Dept.
