Submitted content

The Van Wert Cougars were back in action last night at home when they took on the Defiance Bulldogs in a WBL Conference game. The first game was decided by the minimum 2 point win with the Cougars coming out on top after a slow start when they were down 1-6 at the first time out. The second game was back and forth. Neither team really wanting to keep the lead but the Bulldogs ended up on top 25-20. The third game was a great game for Van Wert. They were playing great volleyball on the court. They didn’t let the ball drop and also put down several kills during the game. The Cougars won 25-18. You would have thought that the Cougars had enough momentum to finish the night in the next game but they couldn’t finish the job. They lost 14-25 in the fourth game. The fifth game was a great game with long volleys and great court action. The Cougars lead the beginning of the game but the Bulldogs didn’t give up and tied the game up at 11-11. The rest of the game was back and forth. The fifth game ended like the first game with the minimum 2 point win going to the Bulldogs 15-13.

The scores for the evening were 25-23, 20-25, 25-18, 14-25 and 13-15. The varsity is now 4-5 on the season and will be back in action as they travel to Lima Bath.

Van Wert JV defeated Defiance in two games 30-28 and 26-24. The JV is now 8-1 on the season. The Freshmen team played Defiance and was defeated in three games 25-19, 15-25 and 18-25. The Freshmen are now 1-3 on the season.
