James King and Michael Lambright came to the Wassenberg Art Center on Saturday, October 17, to jury entries for the 34th Annual Wassenberg Photography Exhibit.  After getting an overall impression of the pictures in each category, they started paring down the 302 entries to a workable number for the exhibit.  Once that was achieved, they evaluated the remaining pictures to select the first and second places and the honorable mentions in each category.

After that was accomplished,  they selected the photos to receive the  Charles Wassenberg Best of  Show awards in color and B/W, the Van Wert County Foundation award in color or B/W, the Wilbur Hartman and Katy Mounts awards in color and B/W, and the John Flagg Youth awards in color and B/W for youth 18 years old and younger.

During the judging, Wassenberg Camera Club Members were moving pictures, keeping records of accepted and unaccepted pictures, recording awards and placing ribbons.

Jim King has enjoyed long career in photography.  In addition to personal portrait work, he has extensive experience in product and industrial photography.  His work with historical artifacts and art has led to assignments in Europe.   Jim has a sense of subject, color, and texture, and possesses exceptional technical skills.

King was impressed by the number and quality of the pictures.  He predicted that such high-quality talent will produce an impressive show.

Mike Lambright graduated from Bowling Green State University with a degree in Graphic Design specializing in Fine Art.  He currently heads up a 15-member marketing communications department.  He directs all photo shoots for both foreign and domestic clients.  His senses of composition, lighting and printing technique are well-developed.

Lambright was initially impressed with how attractive the gallery was, then with the quantity of fine photographs on the walls. He stated that this will be a worthy show for the Wassenberg Art Center and Van Wert.

Following the reception on October 1, the exhibit will run till October 28, except for Mondays when the Art Center is closed.
