Bernetia C. Verfaillie

Bernetia C. Verfaillie, 86, of Paulding, died Thursday, September 22, 2011, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne, Ind.

She was born March 9, 1925, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Andrew T. and Viola Mae (Cotterman) Gillett. On January 26, 1945, she married Lucien A. Verfaillie, who preceded her in death on November 16, 1996.

Survivors include three brothers, Andrew (Ruth Ann) Gillett of Van Wert, Leroy (Barbara) Gillett of Bryan and John Gillett of San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Roberta Norling of Oakwood and Lulah (Dick) Miller of Edon; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

A son, David Verfaillie; one daughter, Virginia S. Schlatman; a granddaughter, Laura Hasch; and three sisters, Hulda Carlisle, Lydia Price and Faith Taylor, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, at Den Herder Funeral Home in Paulding, with Pastor Mike Harper officiating. Burial will be in Hedges Cemetery in rural Paulding County.

Calling hours are from 2:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.
