Hiestand’s Haunted Woods ready to go
Van Wert independent/contributor content
The Van Wert Community Club and Van Wert City/County DARE programs are pleased to announce that Hiestand’s Haunted Woods will open for the Halloween season on Saturday, October 1, and run every Friday and Saturday night in October from 8 p.m. to around midnight, weather permitting.
Admission to the haunted woods is $7 per person. Those who bring a canned food item for donation to a local food pantry will receive $1 off the admission price.
The “haunt” is located at Hiestand Woods Park on Hospital Drive in Van Wert, just east of Van Wert County Hospital. Filled with live actors, ghosts, and chainsaw wielding monsters for nearly three-quarters of a mile, the haunt is not appropriate for young children.
Young ones are invited to visit on Saturday, October 22, from 2-4 p.m. as the woods will transform to a family friendly atmosphere for the annual Spook Fest, with trick or treating, games, and costume contest for ages 10 and under. Admission to the Spook Fest is $1 per person.
For more information about either event, contact Keith Allen at 419.238.3866.
The Van Wert Community Club is a newly formed organization whose volunteers donate their time to community-based projects. The local DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program teaches students the skills needed to resist negative peer pressure and lead successful drug free and violence free lives.
