Ballroom dancing … with a twist!

The most popular touring dance show in the country is coming to the Niswonger Performing Arts Center in two weeks.  Conceived and choreographed by “Dancing with the Stars” Louis Van Amstel, this show actually features dancers who have appeared on “Dancing with the Stars” and Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance.”  Not only does the show feature these outstanding dancers in flashy and colorful costumes, it also features two “American Idol” singers: Gina Clocksen from Season 6 and David Hernandez from Season 7.

I am told that although you will see a lot of ballroom dancing, you will also experience what the “twist” in the title is all about. Hip-hop, Broadway and pop music will provide plenty of “twist” in this spectacular stage show.

Tickets are currently on sale at the NPAC box office at 419.238.NPAC (6722) for this popular show. They can also be purchased online at www.npacvw.org.  Make a note that this show is at 3 p.m.  If you show up at 7:30 p.m., you can help clean up!

Other concerts and shows coming up at the NPAC that are currently on sale are Gaudete Brass on October 11, Rockapella on November 4, and COACH on November 6.  We have now also released single tickets for all our Christmas shows at the NPAC.  They include David Phelps on November 27 (nearly sold out), two Nutcracker performances on December 3, Kenny G on December 6 (sold out!), Ricky Skaggs Family Christmas on December 11, and Christmas with John Tesh on December 17.

If you would like to have a sneak preview of any of these shows, you can go to the NPAC website and click on the black video box either on the home page or the events page.  It will give you a short clip from the show and may help you in your decisions.  Also remember that we occasionally are able to offer seats the day of a sold out concert if the performers release their “contractual holds.”  We are currently taking a waiting list for Kenny G’s Christmas show and may need to do the same for others that are inching toward sold-out status.

I should also mention that if you are a Facebook user, you can find the Niswonger Performing Arts Center of Northwest Ohio on Facebook.  Many interesting pictures appear on the site of past performances as well as comments from those who attended.  It is a unique social center of activity for the NPAC.

The new piece of artwork in the Van Wert Federal Grand Lobby entitled “The Arts in Motion” has received many compliments.  If you haven’t taken the chance to stop and study this beautiful work of art by Reggie and Penny Buehrer of Window Creations/Crystal Creek Glass of rural Ottoville, I encourage you to.  The more you study it, the more you will see.  There is a framed description below the work, which gives credits and explanation of this newest lobby addition.  We appreciate the Buehrer’s contribution as well as the Helen and Merle Knittle trust that helped make this possible.

FINÉ.
