County Democrats set fall picnic date

OHIO CITY — The Van Wert County Democratic Party will host its annual fall picnic Saturday, October 8, at the Ohio City Community Building in Firemen’s Park. The activities begin at 2 p.m. and end at 5 p.m.

Complimentary food and beverages will be provided, including hot dogs, baked beans, assorted covered dishes, and desserts.

Jeff Agler, candidate for Van Wert City Council, and Greg Unterbrink, candidate for city law director, will be on hand to discuss their positions on local issues. Van Wert County Council on Aging Executive Director Cindy Wood will discuss the replacement levies that will be on the November ballot for the that agency. In addition, information will be available on Issue 2, the referendum on Senate Bill 5.

The local Democratic Party’s tradition of live donkeys at the picnic will continue this year, with the chance that one of the donkeys will have a colt with it.

The party membership invites area Democrats, as well as all county residents, to come out for an afternoon of socializing and information gathering as the fall election season approaches.
