Cougar girls edge Bluffton for tennis win

BLUFFTON — The Van Wert girls’ tennis team eked out a 3-2 win over the Lady Pirates in a non-conference tennis match held Tuesday.

Both top Cougar singles players, No. 1 Brooke Keber and No. 2 Jenna Waterman, lost their matches, but No. 2 singles player Katie Etter and both doubles teams — Lindsay Smith and Gretchen Klinker at No. 1 doubles and Paige Dunlap and Katie Kline at No. 2 doubles — defeated their opponents for the slim victory.

The Cougars, fresh off a third-place finish at the Western Buckeye League tournament this past weekend, will be headed toward the Division II sectional tournament this weekend.
