Anne S. (Savage) Dunn

Anne S. (Savage) Dunn, 88, of Van Wert, died at 8:04 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

Anne S. (Savage) Dunn

Anne was born March 15, 1923, in Birmingham, Mich., the daughter of the late John and Ada Kanaly Savage.  She was the 10th of 11 children. She is survived by her brother, Phil (Sally) Savage of Canton, Mich., sons Paul (Karen) Dunn of East Bridgewater, Mass., and Dave and Tom Dunn of Columbus; and grandchildren Michael, Alex and Sara.

Her husband, Paul G. Dunn Jr., also preceded her in death.

Founding members of the Van Wert Civic Theatre, Anne and Paul and their three sons were very active in VWCT’s productions over the years. Anne was an award-winning actor, stage technician and recipient of the prestigious VWCT Trustees Award for the 1987-88 season. She was a member of the Play Reading Committee and heavily involved in annual VWCT membership drives.

One of her great passions was travel. She frequently visited California and the West, Boston and Cape Cod. There were also Caribbean cruises, visits to the Canadian Rockies, The Bahamas, Italy, England and Ireland.

Her greatest passion was her family and their holiday traditions. That potato salad is still the best! Anne had a great and memorable sense of humor, was quick-witted and always to the point. She was blessed with a sharp memory, and could be counted on to draw accurate comparisons between today and yesteryear. Her life was full of love and concern for her fellow humans, and that is why she will be so fondly remembered.

There will be a Resurrection Mass at noon on Saturday, October 8, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with Father Stan Szybka officiating.

There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials are to Catholic Relief Services.

Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.bricknerfuneralhome.com or bricknerfuneralhome@bright.net.
