Delphos officers to assist U.S. marshals

TOLEDO — This past Monday at 11 a.m. Delphos Police Chief Kyle Fittro and Assistant Chief David R. Clark were formally sworn in as special deputies assigned to the United States Marshal Service. The swearing-in took place in Toledo at the office of the U.S. Marshals Service.

The Delphos officers will be assigned as needed to the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force.  The sworn officers will assist the Marshals Federal Task Force in executing arrest warrants or search warrants as directed by the U.S. Marshals Service. These operations occur fairly frequently in the Allen County area, in conjunction with multiple area law enforcement agencies.

“This is just another step towards inter-agency cooperation and communication,” Chief Fittro noted. “Criminals do not obey jurisdictional lines when committing crime and we should not be restrained by jurisdictional lines when attempting to apprehend them.

Delphos Police Officer Ben Becker (not in photo), assigned to the West Central Ohio Crime Task Force, was also sworn in with Fittro and Clark at the U.S. Marshals Office in Toledo.
