Peony Fest Committee sets Home Tour

Van Wert independent/Peony Festival information

The Peony Festival Committee is already preparing for next year’s event with a fundraiser to support the 2012 festival and parade.

On Saturday, November 19, from 3-7 p.m. the Peony Festival Committee will be having a Harvest Holiday Home Tour through five homes along Washington Street in Van Wert. Tickets cost $10 and provide access to five beautiful homes and the ability refresh yourself at the committee’s Peony Café, which will provide delicious mulled cider or hot chocolate and a sweet treat.

Houses on the tour include the following:

  • 625 N. Washington — This dwelling looks like a comfortable, unassuming home but those on the tour will learn the house also has a secret.
  • 523 N. Washington — Such a pretty home, and for sale too!  In today’s market, this could be a chance to own a beautiful piece of property. Come see the possibilities…
  • 609 S. Washington — A beautiful example of a Craftsman-style home, with its wide welcoming porch waiting for friends to sit and enjoy a lazy afternoon together
  • 642 S. Washington — Victorian charm and elegance from an era of grace and gentility make this home a joy to behold. Join the tour to experience a bygone era.
  • 669 S. Washington — It’s off to grandma’s house we go! Those who remember the days of gathering at Grandma’s house, with all the cousins playing from room to room and filling the house with laughter, now experience the warmth and fun of being at a new “Grandma’s house.”

This is a self-guided tour, so feel free to take the time to enjoy the afternoon and each house on the tour. Peony Festival committee members will be at each house selling tickets, or tickets can be purchased before the day of the tour by contacting: the following: Trudy Webster at 419.605.6049; Vicki Shulte at 419.238.4002; Sonia Mazur at 419.232.2010; Ann Marshall at 419.238.4551; Kay Baker at 419.605.7147; Cathy Lanier at 419.232.2320; Barb East at 419.238.6334; and Zoe Longstreth at 419.495.4016.
