Electrical aggregation deal gets sweeter

According to Bill Bradish, account manager for Palmer Energy Company, the deal just got sweeter for Van Wert County political subdivisions whose voters approve aggregation for their electric bills.

Subdivisions where electricity aggregation is a ballot issue include the city of Van Wert, the villages of Convoy, Middle Point and Willshire, and Harrison, Jackson, Jennings, Liberty, Pleasant, Ridge, Union, Washington, Willshire and York townships.

Bradish told the county commissioners on Tuesday that, instead of the 3 percent discount on electrical generation rates first negotiated, voters who approve electrical aggregation will see 8 percent generation discounts under a near deal just inked.

Only those subdivisions whose voters approve aggregation, though, will see the discounts, Bradish noted.

Also on Tuesday, the commissioners were in favor of donating a roll-top desk located in the county Veterans Service office to the Van Wert County Historical Society. Veterans Service Officer Barry Johns and Jeanne Zeigler from the Historical Society met with the commissioners on Tuesday to discuss the donation.

County Treasurer Beverly Fuerst also met with members of the county Investment Committee to discuss recent developments in that area, Commissioner Gary Adams said, although nothing significant arose from that meeting.
