Knights fall wrap-up

By Brodie Tumbleson

Now that October has ended, Crestview students are wrapping up their sports seasons and getting ready for their winter activities. But these sports wrap ups are anything but ordinary this year. With both the Crestview Volleyball ending with overly superb record, football finishing its season on a positive note, and cross country sending a runner to state, it’s no wonder Crestview is full of spirit this fall.

The volleyball team faces Mohawk at the Elida Fieldhouse tonight at 7:30 p.m. while cross country runner Mycah Grandstaff heads to the State Cross Country meet on Saturday at 1:15pm at the National Trail Raceway in Hebron.

Crestview football players, cheerleaders, and band members are getting a well deserved break after a long and successful football season. The Crestview Knights’ Football team, which has had one of its most successful years since the early 2000’s, finished off their season on Friday night at their home field. With the football season over many people are looking forward to the relief of having their Friday nights free  for whatever they feel like doing. Marching band bass drummer Elaina Winhover said she is, “Looking forward to hanging out with friends and waiting until Pep Band starts up for basketball.”

One thing the Knights may choose to do this weekend with their free time is go on out and see Crestview’s musical production of Rodger and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma!. The musical stars Quintin Bouillion, who plays “Curly McClain” the rambunctious cowboy just looking for love from his special little sweetheart, and Shelby Minnich as “Miss Laurey”, who is trying to play hard to get and making life very difficult for Curly. Crestview has been working on this musical since mid-August and feels very confident that the show will go off with a hitch, on the surrey, of course. One thing is for certain though, there will be laughs and entertainment for everyone when the doors open for the show on Friday and Saturday night.  All drama fans should buy their tickets early to reserve seats for this weekend’s performance.

Crestview has had a great fall sports program and looking onward, and one can only assume that the winter sports programs are going to be just as spectacular. With boys’ and girls’ basketball around the corner, the Knights definitely have reason to look forward. Hopefully they’ll do just as well or even better in the winter season.
