Delphos police investigate fatal accident
DELPHOS — Delphos police are investigating a fatal accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian that occurred Thursday evening in the 400 block of North Main Street.
According to police, Dale Miller, 84, of Delphos, was crossing the street and was hit by a vehicle driven by Linda Bailey, 60, also of Delphos, who was driving north on Main Street. Reports indicate that neither Miller nor Bailey may have seen each other before the collision.
Miller was transported to Lima Memorial Hospital by Delphos EMS Squad, and he was pronounced dead there as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office reviewed the accident and released Miller’s body to Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos.
Delphos Police were assisted at the accident scene by troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol and deputies from the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Department.
The accident remains under investigation, but neither alcohol nor drugs were believed to be a factor in the crash.
