Mary G. Saum

Mary G. “Dolly” Saum, 91, of Fort Jennings, died at 11:50 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2011, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Delphos.

She was born August 22, 1920, in Putnam County, the daughter of the late Edwin and Anna (Morman) Heidenescher. On August 24, 1940, she married Norbert Saum, who preceded her in death on March 15, 1995.

Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Ann (Norbert) Greve of Wapakoneta and Barbara Brinkman of Ottawa; three half-brothers, George, Leroy and Edwin Heidenescher; a stepbrother, Leonard Collier; one stepsister, Lorraine (Bill) Niece; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Her stepmother, Martha Martin; four brothers, Aloysius, Melvin, Othmer and Joseph Heidenescher; a sister, Louella Robnolte; one stepsister, Juanita Collier; and two half-sisters, Thelma Rudolph and Ruth Bidlack, also preceded her in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 9, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos, with Father Melvin Verhoff officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Delphos.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 8, at Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos, where a parish wake will be held at 7:30 that evening.
