Navy Club begins Toys for Tots sign-ups
It is once again time to start thinking about Christmas, and for Navy Club Ship 726 that means it’s time for its annual Toys for Tots campaign.
The Navy Club will be conducting sign-ups for underprivileged children in Van Wert County from Tuesday, November 15, through Thursday, November 17, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The Navy Club will post other dates and times as they are scheduled.
Navy Club members are taking applications and verifying information at the former Kennedy Kuhn building, across for the Van Wert County Fairgrounds, and will be accepting applications until December 9. The application consists of information for all persons residing in a household; proof of address, such as a rent receipt, utility bill, etc.; Income for the past 30 days for all persons in the household, including wages. Unemployment, self-employment, child support, social security, SSI, any disability, pension, worker’s compensation, cash assistance, etc. Bring proof of food stamp and/or Medicaid eligibility.
The Navy Club is accepting applications for children 13 years and younger, with income guidelines up to 200 percent of poverty guidelines.
Collection barrels have been placed at the following local businesses: Big Lots, Lee Kinstle GM Sales & Service, Dollar General, everyBodies Therapeutic Massage, and E&R Trailer.
On December 6, Orchard Tree will be donating 15 percent of meal prices to Toys for Tots for those customers who bring in the coupon designated for that day.
Information for other community events will be announced as they are planned.
