Overland Coupe donation
On Thursday, Jan Dunlap, representing the Road Sirs Car Club, presented Van Wert Historical Society Treasurer Ron Kessler with a $1,000 donation toward restoration of the 1917 Overland Opera Touring Coupe. This automobile was originally owned by the Charles Wassenberg family and later sold to the Paul Jones family. It is presently being dismantled and restored by a host of volunteers. It has been estimated that it will cost between $12,000 and $15,000 to completely restore this one-of-a-kind vehicle. There are no known other Overland vehicles of this model in existence in the United States. When restoration is completed in 2-3 years, the vehicle will valued at substantially more than the cost of the restoration. (Historical Society photo)
