SWCD holds 62nd annual meeting
The Van Wert Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) held its 62nd annual meeting on November 15 at Vantage Career Center in Van Wert.

An election was held for one supervisor position on the five-member SWCD Board of Supervisors. Dave Jones was re-elected to serve a three-year term commencing January 1, 2012.
Dinner was provided by Grant’s Catering in Antwerp. Clarence and Steve Oberlitner of Obie Farms were recognized by the district with its Conservation Award. The award honors individuals for their conservation achievements. Speaker for the evening was Frank Gibbs, NRCS soil scientist. His presentation focused on a recent trip to Tibet.
A drawing was held for door prizes. Matt Allmandinger was the winner of a Weber gas grill provided by First Bank of Berne, First Federal Savings & Loan, Wells Fargo, and Ace Hardware, Ginny Ricketts won a Black & Decker Leaf Hog provided by Mercer Landmark-Glenmore, Convoy, Ohio City, and Middle Point, Pauline Weldy won a rain barrel donated by the Van Wert SWCD.
