YMCA offering 40-day triathlon event
The YMCA of Van Wert County is offering a 40-day triathlon to its members. The event is going on now through Friday, December 30, with $10 registrations still being accepted.

Those registered will have 40 days to complete a triathlon’s 26.2 miles of running, 2.4 miles of swimming and 100 miles of cycling. There will also be substitutes for these events allowed. The running can be substituted with walking, working out on the elliptical machine or attending the Zumba or Cardio Pump fitness classes. The swimming can be substituted with the rowing machines. Cycling class participation can go towards the cycling event. Details on the formulas needed to count towards these events are available on the website at www.vwymca.org.
Those who register online or at the front desk of the Y will receive a fitness log to track progress. Those who log and finish the events within 40 days will receive a t-shirt and placed in a drawing for a $25 gas card.
“We wanted to provide something fun and different to our members to help keep them on track during the holiday season,” stated Julie Schaufelberger, Y wellness director. “Exercising relieves stress, gives you more energy and makes this hectic time of the year more manageable,” Schaufelberger added.
Information about this and other programs available at the Van Wert YMCA can be found by calling 419.238.0443 or visiting www.vwymca.org.
The YMCA of Van Wert County is partially funded by The Van Wert County Foundation and United Way of Van Wert County.
