Richard Sylvester Barna

Richard Sylvester Barna, 75, of Celina and formerly of Rockford, died at 11:31 a.m. Friday, November 25, 2011.

He was born August 6, 1936, in Hamtramck, Mich., the son of the late Sylvester and Julia Evelyn (Kaschak) Barna. He was formerly married to Sandra Jackson.

Survivors include two sons, Richard S. (Bonnie) Barna of Norwalk and Glenn T. (Susan) Barna of Louisville, Ky.; three daughters, Julia A. Barna and Audrey J. (Quint) Miesse, both of Celina, and Sandra E. (Mark) Heinl of Coldwater; two brothers, Gene (Sue) Barna of Rockford and Bill (Madelyn) Barna of Louisville, Ky.; a sister, Betty Belna of Rockford; and 10 grandchildren.

Two brothers, Bob and Ron Barna, also preceded him in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church in Rockford, with Father Ken Alt officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Celina.

Calling hours are from 3-8 p.m. Monday, November 28, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford.
