Bridget A. Richey

Bridget A. Richey, 43, of Columbus, passed away at 8:25 p.m. Friday, November 25, 2011, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born July 24, 1968, the daughter of Gerald Richey, who survives in Van Wert, and the late Monica (Schaadt) Richey.

Bridget was a 1986 graduate of Lincolnview High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree from The Ohio State University. She attended graduate school at Xavier University in Cincinnati. She was employed at Delta Energy in Columbus, where she worked as an independent consultant. She was a member of St. Joe’s Catholic Church in Columbus.

She had been staying with her family since August, where she has been battling breast cancer. Her battle ended just three days after the loss of her mother, who was also battling breast cancer. “We will miss Bridget’s positive energy and determination to survive. Family members appreciate all of the prayers they have been receiving through this very difficult time.”

In addition to her father, survivors include her siblings, Sheridan Richey of Columbus, Jared (Cindy) Richey of Hilliard, Adam Richey of Antwerp, and Patrick Richey and Molly (Trevor) Berryman, both of Middle Point; nieces and nephews, Nicholas, Abigail, Brian, Catlyn, Hanna, Grace, Zachary and Holly; Aunts and uncles, Joan Blankemeyer, Rex (Alice) Schaadt, Bernie (Cathy) Schaadt, Marcia (Leroy) Kill, Valeria (William) Teman, Kent (Glenda) Schaadt, Gwen (Paul) Woods, Joe Richey, Bob Richey, and Dave (Brenda) Richey; and many cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 1, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, with Father Stanley Szybka officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, where the Rosary will be recited at 8 that evening.
