The volunteers of TWIG III and Van Wert County Hospital illuminated the holiday sky at the 18th annual “Tree of Lights” ceremony on Tuesday, November 29, at 7 p.m.

In keeping with the 18-year tradition, the lighting of the tree in the front of the hospital will mark the beginning of the holiday season. The Tree of Lights is both a remembrance service and a TWIG III fundraiser in support of hospital programs. For a contribution, family members placed star ornaments on the tree. Twenty-eight stars were placed on the tree honoring or in memory of loved ones.
The 18th annual event raised $2,000. “Since inception, this annual event has raised more than $68,900 in contributions for the hospital,” said TWIG III President Nancy Farmer.
The evening started with a musical selection of Christmas songs from the Lincolnview Chorus. Rev. Gus Cristo-Baker from First United Methodist Church delivered the invocation. Following a check presentation by Farmer to VWCH President/CEO Mark Minick, Twig III member Lisa Dunn read the names on the stars. As the event concluded, attendees enjoyed a reception in the hospital cafeteria.
