Auditor: Dog licenses currently on sale

Van Wert County Auditor Nancy Dixon announces that dog licenses are currently on sale in her office, Room 203 in the County Courthouse, as well as at the following locations:

• Hall Lumber Company, 122 S. Main St., Convoy
• J&J Butler Sales, 200 Walcott St., Willshire
• Van Wert Veterinary (Dr. Trapp) on Van Wert-Decatur Road
• The Ramblers Roost on Lincoln Highway, near Middle Point
• Van Wert Animal Clinic (Dr. Wilkin) on Lincoln Highway east of The Marsh Foundation
• Ohio City Express, 511 W. Carmean St., Ohio City
• Brenda’s Cuddles & Cuts, 1333 N. Main St., Delphos
• Emme Lu’s Pet Wellness Center LLC, 706 W. Ervin Road, Suite C, Van Wert

A self-addressed, stamped envelope, as well as the proper fee, must accompany the return of a license application by mail. If purchasing a tag at one of the above locations, take the application, if one was received by mail.

Cost of a dog license is $16 per tag. A penalty of $16 per tag, in addition to the license cost and fee, must be paid for licenses purchased for dogs 3 months of age or older after January 31, 2012.

Kennel licenses are $80 for five tags. Extra tags are $1 each. The penalty for kennel licenses after January 31, 2012, is an additional $80.

Dixon reminded county residents that all dogs 3 months old or older require a dog license.
