A Van Wert teenager has been charged in connection with a rash of residential burglaries that occurred from July to October of this year in the north and east portions of the city.
Tyler Mohr, 17, was charged with seven of counts of burglary, all fourth-degree felonies, and one count of receiving stolen property, a felony of the fifth degree.
According to Van Wert Detective Sergeant Jeff Blackmore, large amounts of jewelry, money and collectible coins, as well as some electronic items, were taken in the burglaries. Police officers served a search warrant on the residence Mohr was staying at on October 23 and found a large amount of property that had been reported stolen in the seven burglaries.
Moreover, the police department is still in possession of several items of unclaimed property believed to have been stolen in local burglaries, and Sgt. Blackmore encourages anyone who has had their residence burglarized in the past few months to call the police department and file a report.
Mohr, who was 16 at the time the burglaries were committed, will appear this morning in Van Wert County Juvenile Court for arraignment on the above charges.
