Gladys F. Lee

Gladys F. Lee, 85, of Van Wert, died at 12:20 a.m. Sunday, December 11, 2011, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born January 11, 1926, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Lewis Long and Goldie (Johns) Wade. On May 19, 1946, she married Lawrence G. Lee, who preceded her in death on October 5, 1999.

Mrs. Lee was a homemaker and a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Van Wert. She also was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Ladies Guild and Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.

Survivors include five children, Larry (Ann) Lee of Van Wert, Lawrence L. “Von” (Vicki) Lee of Middle Point, Linda (Ron) Kreischer of Lexington (Ohio), LaRita (Paul) McCallister of Pensacola, Fla., and the Rev. LaDonna (Steve) Thomas of Hanover, Pa.; two brothers, Dale Long of Van Wert and Robert (Marge) Long of Ohio City; four sisters, Grace Dreher of Fort Wayne, Ind., Betty Agler of Van Wert, Dorothy High of Portland, Ind., and Roberta Bowersock of Richfield; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A brother, Lewis Long, and one sister, Helen Pastor, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 14, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Van Wert, with the Revs. Philip Zielinski and William E.D. Barlow officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
