Cougar wrestlers 3rd at L’view tourney

The Van Wert varsity wrestling team finished third among 12 teams at the Lincolnview Invitational Tournament held on Saturday. The Cougars scored 216½ points in the tournament. Ayersville was the tourney champion with 275½ points, while Delphos St. John’s was second with 229 points.

Individual champions for the Cougars were James Hardmon, who defeated teammate Terrin Contreras for first place in the 285-pound weight class (Contreras was second); Sean Dorsch, who won the 138-pound weight class with a record of 5-0 and three pins; and Daniel Thompson, who was first in the 145-pound weight class, also with a record of 5-0 and three pins.
Two other Van Wert wrestlers earned second-place finishes, along with Contreras. They were Zach Burk, who finished with a record of 3-1 and three pins in the 126-pound weight class, and Colten Royer, who earned second in the 152-pound weight class with a record of 4-1 and two pins.
