Jane Alicia (Scaer) Custer

Jane Alicia (Scaer) Custer of Land O’ Lakes, Fla., and formerly of Convoy, went home to be with the Lord Jesus on Friday, December 23, 2011, peacefully with family at home after battling colon cancer for more than four years. Jane will have the best Christmas of anyone on earth. She will have Christmas with Jesus.

She was born June 13, 1953, in Van Wert, the daughter of Fred Scaer and the late Velma (Hoverman) Scaer Simpson. On September 15, 1973, she married Rodney D. Custer, who survives.

Jane was an active member of Idlewild Baptist Church in Lutz, Fla., was caregiver coordinator for the Maranatha Adult Bible Fellowship Class, and worked in the Preschool Ministry. She was a daycare provider, both in Ohio and Florida for 25 years, for a total of approximately 60 or 70 children.

Other survivors include three children, Jamie (Ryan) Rase of Troutman, N.C., Scott (Jennifer) Custer of Land O’ Lakes, Fla., and Jill (Chris) Waligora of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Ted (Sharon) Scaer of Convoy; one sister, Mary Ann (Jeff) Dunlap of Van Wert; a stepsister, Alicia (Jack) Dill of Sedalia; and six grandchildren, whom she cherished: Jordan, Jacey, and Jacob Rase, Grace and Drew Custer and Chloe Waligora.

She was passionate about her grandchildren and loved children.

The Celebration of Life for Jane will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, December 30, at Exciting Idlewild Baptist Church in Lutz, Fla.

Calling hours are from 9-11 a.m. Friday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial bequests to Exciting Idlewild Baptist Church Preschool Ministry or HPH Hospice.

Arrangements were handled by Trinity Memorial Gardens of Trinity, Fla.
