Dorothy Rosella (Black) Hoverman

Dorothy Rosella (Black) Hoverman, 93, of Van Wert, died at 2:20 p.m. Sunday, December 25, 2011, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.

She was born December 2, 1918, in Ohio City, the daughter of the late Jesse H. and Luie Leota (Cox) Black. On December 24, 1939, she married Lawrence Edward “Sam” Hoverman, who preceded her in death on November 7, 2001.

Mrs. Hoverman had worked as a seamstress at John Earl until the birth of her two children. Upon retirement, she and her husband moved to Florida, but returned due to health reasons in 1999. She was an avid quilter who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an active member of the Van Wert Church of the Nazarene, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was a 1937 graduate of Van Wert High School.

Survivors include a son, Larry W. (Connie) Hoverman of Van Wert; one daughter, Kathleen Kay (Randy) Willingham of Van Wert; three grandchildren, Brent Allen Willingham of Willard, Carrie L. (Rob) Beyer of Westerville and Nathan L. (Rachael) Hoverman of Van Wert; and two great-grandchildren, Samuel and Annabelle Beyer.

Three brothers, Gaylord, Art and Ralph, and two sisters, Luciele Todd and Leota, also preceded her in death.

Private funeral services will be held at a later date at Cowan & Sons Funeral Home in Van Wert.

There will be no visitation.
