Sara R. Adams

Sara R. Adams, 93, of Van Wert, died at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, December 25, 2011, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born October 23, 1918, in Findlay, the daughter of the late Charles P. and Susan B. (Dunifon) Clark. On July 7, 1939, she married William C. “Peck” Adams, who preceded her in death on May 30, 1986.

Mrs. Adams was a member of First United Methodist Church in Van Wert and had formerly been employed as a secretary for the church and also for Dr. Harold C. Smith. She had also worked as a teller at the former Van Wert National Bank. She was a member of Wassenberg Art Center in Van Wert, Van Wert Civic Theatre and Van Wert County Medical Assistants.

Survivors include three children, Dr. Robert C. (Deb) Adams of Van Wert, Sherrill (Tom) Giessler of Madison, Wis., and Patricia J. (Richard) Ward of Van Wert; three sisters, Pauline Wermer and Carolyn Dippery, both of Van Wert, and Josephine (Richard) Ditto of Madison, Ala.; a sister-in-law, Judith Clark of Lutz, Fla.; one cousin, William (Helen) Wilcox of Fort Wayne, Ind.; seven grandchildren, John Giessler of Convoy, Caroline (Christopher) Roe of Madison, Wis., Dr. Melissa (Martin) Bowman of Convoy, Miranda (fiancé Adam Garcia) Ward of Lima, Dr. Rebecca (Dr. Jacob Jones) Adams, Dr. Elizabeth (Jason Haggerty) Adams and Rob (Madison) Adams II, all of Van Wert; and nine great-grandchildren.

A brother, John Clark, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 29, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, and an hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: Community Health Professionals Hospice or First United Methodist Church, both in Van Wert.
