Viola M. Sheets

Viola M. Sheets, 89, died Friday, January 6, 2012, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born May 6, 1923, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Charles and Flossie (Miller) Prichard. On June 3, 1944, she married Carl L. Sheets, who preceded her in death on May 8, 1965.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will be missed by her family. Mrs. Sheets was a dedicated homemaker and helped her husband with the family farm. She was born in Paulding County and graduated from Ridge High School, where she participated in sports and school plays. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Convoy.

Survivors include four children, Karen (Bill) Marshall of Columbus, Duane (Kay) Sheets of Van Wert, Doyle (Robin) Sheets of Convoy and Karla Sheets of Van Wert; eight grandchildren, Doug Martin, Debbie Rallis, Dennis Sheets, Brian Sheets, David Sheets, Dale Sheets, Bradley Sheets and Aaron Roehm; three stepgrandchildren, Jessie, Justin and Cory Sinning; 10 great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

Six sisters and five brothers, as well as a granddaughter, Amber Roehm, also preceded her in death.

A private family funeral service will be conducted at Cowan & Sons Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Rita Bair officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

There will be no visitation.
