VW wrestlers edged by Defiance, Elida

The Van Wert wrestling team was edged by both Defiance and Elida during a tri-match held Thursday. The Cougars lost to Defiance 44-33 and to Elida 43-33 in Western Buckeye League wrestling.

Those winning matches against both Bulldog teams were Jordan Daniels at 160 pounds, who also had a pin, and 285-pounder Terrin Contreras, who went 2-0 with two pins. Those winning one match included Korbin Schalois at 106 pounds, Ritchie Espinoza at 113 pounds, Reed Baxter at 120 pounds, Zack Burk at 126 pounds (one pine), Colten Royer at 152 pounds, Collin Weiss at 195 pounds and Brady Strawser at 220 pounds.
