Feb. exhibit features ceramics, wildlife art
By Hope Wallace

We received some extraordinary news recently. The Wassenberg Art Center is humbled and pleased to announce the first exhibit of the late American ceramic artist, Clyde Burt, since his death in 1981. This exhibit will run from February 4-24 in conjunction with the Indiana Wildlife Artists Association display. Burt is considered a nationally important pioneer of American Studio ceramics. He won the Art Institute of Chicago Designer-Craftsman Award in 1957 and there are pieces of his in the collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, DC. A public reception will be held on Saturday, February 4 from 6-8 pm. The Wassenberg Art Center is extremely fortunate to be able to share with you this poignant, visual story in the form of dramatic tile wall murals.

“Walk on the Wild Side” will feature the art and sculpture of the Indiana Wildlife Artists Association, which will also be opening on Saturday night, providing for a downright jubilant reception.
We will again have great food for everyone, with wine tasting for art center members (a very easy thing to become). This exhibit is a true reflection of very high quality area work, which practically shouts, “This is who we are!” Admission is always free and we are open Tuesday through Sunday, during exhibits from 1-5 p.m.
