Rodney “Scott” Custer
Rodney “Scott” Custer of Land O Lakes, Fla., and formerly of Convoy, went home to be with the Lord Jesus on Sunday, January 15, peacefully, with family at home after almost six years battling epithelioid sarcoma cancer.

He was born July 3, 1978, in Van Wert, to Rodney D. Custer, who survives in Land O Lakes, Fla., and the late Jane A. (Scaer) Custer. On June 1, 2002, he married Jennifer L. (Ross) Custer, who survives.
Scott was employed by Robins and Morton of Birmingham, Ala., as a project manager. Because of his job, he has lived in 10 different cities, but was very active as a church volunteer in each of those cities. Even though Scott battled his cancer for six years, Jesus Christ was glorified through his Caring Bridge website and he inspired everyone that he came in contact with in his life. He loved being outside in nature, and woodworking.
In addition to his father and wife, Jennifer, he is survived by two children at home who he loved dearly, Grace, 3, and Drew, 1, at home; and two sisters, Jamie (Ryan) Rase of Troutman, N.C., and Jill (Chris) Waligora of Jacksonville, Fla. He also leaves behind an extended family that he loved.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, January 20, at Exciting Idlewild Baptist Church in Lutz, Fla. There will be calling hours from 9:30-11 a.m. that day.
There will also be a memorial service conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 28, at Calvary Evangelical Church in Van Wert, with calling hours from 10-11 a.m. that day.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Custer Children Trust, made payable to Jennifer Custer. Memorial gifts may also be made to HPH Hospice.
Arrangements were handled by Trinity Memorial Gardens of Trinity, Fla.
Messages of condolence may be sent to www.trinitymemorial.com.
