Legislator pushes scholarship program
COLUMBUS — State Representative Lynn Wachtmann (R-Napoleon), in conjunction with the Ohio Association of Career Colleges and Schools, is promoting the 2011-2012 Legislative Scholarship Program.
The Legislative Scholarship Program offers over 340 scholarship opportunities totaling more than $1.1 million to graduating Ohio high school seniors. The primary objective of these scholarships is to provide students with the education and training necessary to obtain a job in an Ohio business or industry.

Available scholarships may cover one-half tuition, or specific amounts that would assist the recipient in obtaining a certificate, diploma, associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree. The costs of the scholarships are borne by the 52 participating member schools and colleges. No state funds are involved.
As part of the application process, each applicant must obtain the signature of a member of the Ohio House of Representatives or the Ohio Senate on the legislative nomination form. Representative Wachtmann would like to assist any student in the district who is interested in applying to the Legislative Scholarship Program.
“The Legislative Scholarship Program provides an excellent opportunity for recent high school graduates to adequately prepare for life in the workforce,” Representative Wachtmann said. “This program acts as an avenue for students to gain the higher education and training they will need to be competitive in Ohio’s job market. I am pleased to support any student interested in the scholarship program.”
Scholarship packets have been distributed to local high schools in the district. Additional forms can be retrieved from the Ohio Association of Career Colleges and Schools’ website www.ohiocareercolleges.org. The scholarship application deadline is April 2, 2012.
