County Foundation disburses $150,000

The Van Wert County Foundation made distributions totaling $152,000 to 15 local organizations on Friday at the Foundation office on East Main Street (click here for more donation photos).

Organizations receiving donations include the following (Foundation funds from which donations were drawn are in parentheses):

• $1,500 to both Crestview and Lincolnview schools to be used for their music programs (Gaylord and Eliza Saltzgaber Fund).
• $5,000 for the Holiday at Home celebration for fireworks (Harold B. and Dorotha F. Cully Fund).
• $5,000 to The Salvation Army for the Christmas Caring and Sharing food baskets (William J. Flickinger Fund).
• $3,000 to the Van Wert Soil & Water Conservation District to continue and expand educational programming for school children in the Van Wert City, Crestview Local, Lincolnview Local and St. Mary’s Catholic schools (John D. and Nellie S. Ault Fund).
• $2,000 to Van Wert County Victims Services Inc. to meet a match requirement for VOCA funding (Hazel Gleason Fund).
• $1,000 to the Van Wert County Historical Society for activities related to the 150th anniversary of the Civil War during the 2012 Holiday at Home celebration (Ilo D. and Carlos E. Miller Fund).
• $14,500 to the YMCA for various projects and needed maintenance and repair (William J. Flickinger, Julia M. and Lawrence Bert Strete and Wayne and Anna Lee Cryer funds).

• $14,500 to the YWCA for the Transitional Housing Program, repairs, maintenance and to purchase a new van (William J. Flickinger, Julia M. and Lawrence Bert Strete and Wayne and Wayne and Anna Lee Cryer funds).
• $50,000 to Van Wert County Hospital’s ER project (Julia M. and Lawrence Bert Strete, Oscar and Norma C. Feigert, Alice B. Anderson, Oscar J. Scaer, Russell and Dorothy Gilliland and James A. and Minnie C. Kesler funds).
• $20,000 to the Van Wert County Council on Aging (Alice B. Anderson Fund).
• $25,000 to the Van Wert Area Performing Arts Foundation for the Niswonger Performing Arts Center of Northwest Ohio (Gaylord and Eliza Saltzgaber Fund).
• $500 to the Van Wert Youth Football program to purchase updated equipment and help with hardship fees (Gaylord and Hazel Gleason Fund).
• $500 to Van Wert Youth Baseball to purchase bleachers at the new youth baseball diamond at Jubilee Park (Ford G. and Marie Owens Fund).
• $8,000 to the Ohio State University Extension for the summer intern program (John D. and Nellie S. Ault Fund).

The donations were approved at the Foundation Board of Trustees’ December 2011 meeting.
