Task force busts Delphos residence

DELPHOS — For a period of time, law enforcement officials have been receiving complaints about an alleged “drug house” at 704 S. Main St. in Delphos. Due to this, agents from the West Central Ohio Crime Task Force began a short-term investigation into this residence. The investigation culminated Thursday at approximately 10:20 a.m. when task force members, along with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department’s SWAT team, served a search warrant at this location.

Found inside the residence was a 22-year-old man, a 29-year-old woman and two small children. Also found inside the residence were the following items that were seized for evidentiary purposes:

  • Several pieces of suspected drug paraphernalia.
  • A small quantity of U.S. currency
  • A small quantity of suspected heroin
  • A small quantity of suspected marijuana

As the SWAT entered the residence, the woman ran to the bathroom and attempted to flush what police suspected was heroin down the toilet. Officers were able to recover some of the substance from the toilet and plan to have it analyzed at the crime lab, along with the other items.

The man and woman found inside the residence were not immediately arrested; however, they both face several potential charges at a future date. Their names name will be released once they are formally charged.

Allen County Children’s Services was also notified of the conditions the children were living in.

The West Central Ohio Crime Task Force is comprised of officers from Allen County Sheriff’s Department, Van Wert County Sheriff’s Department, Lima Police Department, Shawnee Township Police Department, Delphos Police Department and several state and federal agencies. This task force operates within a multi-county area to combat drugs and major crimes.
