VW kids do well in District Hoop Shoot

FINDLAY — Winners from the Van Wert Elks Lodge Hoop Shoot contest recently competed in the district competition held at the University of Findlay.

The highlight of the competition came in the boys’ 12-13 year old division, where Van Wert’s Ryan McCracken shot the lights out, making 22 of 25 free throws. McCracken missed qualifying for the state contest by one shot and took home the runner-up prize.

Other contestants for Van Wert included Jahvin Etzler, who made 16 of 25 free throws in the boys’ 10-11 division to finish in fourth place, while Anthony Jenkins competed in the 8-9 year old division and also made 16 of 25 free throws.

In the girls’ 12-13 year old division Meghan Moonshower made 15 of 25 free throws. Avery McCoy made 8 of 25 shots in the 10-11 year old division and Mailey Gregory made 11 of 25 shots in the 8-9 year old group.
