County JFS Dept. brings back programs

VWCDJFS information

The Van Wert County Department of Job and Family Services announces the return of two program: Non-emergency Transportation and Diapers for Children Under 3.

Non-Emergency Transportation

This program provides gasoline reimbursement for individuals traveling 80 miles or more one-way for medical treatment that is not available or accessible locally. The target group for this service is Medicaid recipients who have access to reliable transportation. Dates of service before February 2 cannot receive reimbursement.

Medicaid Managed Care Plans and the Job and Family Services Department continue to offer rides to individuals without transportation to medical appointments.

Diapers for Children Under 3

This program provides up to four boxes of diapers per year for eligible children. The target group is income eligible families with children under the age of 3.

The income limit is the same as Food Assistance (food stamps): 130 percent of federal poverty guidelines, but families to not need to receive Food Assistance to qualify.

Applications and additional information for both programs are available at the Job and Family Services front desk or by calling 419.238.5430 to request information by mail.
