Knights get league win against Allen East

CONVOY — The Crestview Knights boys’ basketball team was just too much, offensively, for Allen East, with Crestview defeating the Mustangs 69-37 in a Northwest Conference game played Friday night at Convoy.

The Knights led 14-8 at the end of the first quarter and extended their lead to 21 points, 36-15, at the half. It was 53-22 by the end of the third quarter and Crestview’s reserves extended the 31-point lead by a basket by outscoring the Mustangs 16-14 in the final stanza.

The Knights had three players in double figures, led by Nick Adam’s 20 points. Damian Helm added 16 points, while Nick Bauer scored 10 points for Crestview. High scorers for Allen East were Tanner Richardson and Matt Shuey, each with 8 points.

The Knights hit 26 of 63 field goal attempts (41.3 percent), and were 8 of 23 from three-point range (34.8 percent). Crestview made 9 of 15 from the free-throw line (60 percent). The Mustangs hit 12 of 40 field goal attempts (30 percent), including 1 of 5 three-pointers (20 percent). Allen East did well at the line, though, knocking down 12 of 14 free-throw attempts (85.7 percent).

The Crestview junior varsity team also won, 58-37, against the Mustang JVs.
