Reichert signs with Findlay
Cougar football player Austin Reichert signed a letter of intent to play for the University of Findlay during a ceremony held Wednesday in the high school library. Reichert, who was surrounded by his parents and siblings, and his coach, Bob Priest, said his visit to Findlay “just felt like home” — one of the reasons he chose the school over Ashland University, his second choice. The 6-3, 220-pound defensive standout said he would likely play either linebacker or defensive end for the Oilers. “That’s what I’m planning to play,” Reichert said. The VWHS senior, who plans to major in both psychology and strength and conditioning, said he feels Findlay could be playing for the national NCAA Division II championship in the next few years with the talented players that are signing letters to attend the school this year. “…Our class is just going to be unbelievable when it comes to Division II football,” he noted. “I believe there’s a chance Findlay could win a national title while I’m (there).” (Dave Mosier/Van Wert independent)
